Testimonials

Hear from some of the Young People we helped

Courtney

A few years ago, I was getting in a bit of trouble. I was hanging around with the wrong crowd and I was being arrested almost every week. I wanted a change, but I did not know what I could do, especially because I have criminal convictions. A volunteer at Community Care Worldwide spoke to me about different career options including youth work. He explained that my life experiences were valuable and could be used to stop other young people from going down the wrong path in life. I liked the idea of this and I took steps to change my life. I have not been arrested in a few years and I am working to help other young people.

In my 3rd year at university, I was introduced to one of the volunteers at Community Care Worldwide. I explained that I was a law student, but I did not have any work experience in the legal sector. Community Care Worldwide arranged for me to shadow a barrister for a trial that lasted three days at Chelmsford Crown Court. They also provided me with a three-piece suit and tie, and I was reimbursed for my travel expenses. I have now graduated and I am excited about my career prospects.

Cherelle

I was concerned about the change in my son’s behaviour as he entered his teenage years. Although my son has a supportive family, our community lacks positive role models. My son is passionate about football and I arranged for him to join a local club. His mentor at Community Care Worldwide attended his games and arranged for my son to attend football trials with a premier league football club’s youth team. His mentor took him to the two stage football trial, and my son was selected to join the club’s Technical Development Centre Programme for the 2023-2024 season.
